found two of these parts the other day and posted them. After you all said they were silver I cleaned them and also went back to the place I dug them. Today I have another piece to add to the puzzle from almost the same hole. Also pulled a treble gilt button about 20 feet away. plz see photos and help me solve the mystery!!

I wonder in this case if Sterling is the brand name (rather than indicating the pieces are sterling silver)and that the pieces are the end caps from a fluorescent light bulb.

Perfume atomizer?

It's very hard to make a good determination of size with only fingers for comparison...

The second silver piece looks like a ferrule to something that had a wood handle

Those sterling silver pieces could possibly be (smoking) pipe parts, from where the stem of the pipe joins the bowl. Do an image search for Peterson pipe and you can see what I'm talking about.

The silver pieces look like walking cane parts. I make and restore canes and have seen similar pieces where the handle joins the cane. The silver ferrule often has hallmarks to indicate the maker and origin of the piece. Just a thought.

I do believe you are right. I googled vintage sterling canes and found several that had verrrry similar hardware. You sir win the prize:notworthy::notworthy::notworthy::notworthy:
