Maybe it's a piece of an old daguerreotype frame,some of them were made of silver or gold.I was gonna post an example of one I have but this god*^$@@#$%^ web cam broke again. :) Nice find-diggummup

I just re-read your post and I didn't see you said it was marked sterling.Not a piece of daguerreotype frame.Maybe a broken piece of silver jewelry,is it just stamped stirling only?The fact that it is marked sterling has me stumped,it looks like one side is longer than the other,does it look like it's been broken off or anything,also how big is it?

Yes i think its broken off, then again i dunno ??? i took better pictures with a ruler too, and its marked "sterling silver" on the back 8)

might be a saddle skirt decoration... does it have little set screws on the back or glue residue inside?

could you clear up what a saddle skirt decoration is? And it doesnt have any screws nor glue residue on the back just that fold in the metal u see in the pic.

That pic does look sorta like mine and mine does look like it would have been crimped. Woaw that ones 50$ lol.
