I looks like it was spot welded onto something. Maybe the top of a really big tent pole - like for a Sibley tent or similar?

I'd like to see the other side of the "top".

There was a Yankee fort about 500 yards away. Still working at this and will add the top view.

Hog scraper? For scraping hides.

I'm reading through this thread and I get to this reply. I'm thinking what in the world is a "hog scraper" and why would Cruisin guess that. So I searched and I can kind of understand now. I thought I would share a photo to either help rule it in or out.

A hog scraper would fit right in with Civil War relics. It's something they would have used in a camp kitchen. It could be something else but I'm still leaning toward the scraper. LOL, you can still get them today on Amazon!

Ho big is it?

A11 stated 5.25 inches long and the wide top cap is 2.5 inches wide.

I don't know what it is bu if it turns out to be common you can get a little bit of money for it at the scrap ; it being brass & all.
Best Wishes
