Looks to me like a bulkhead connector with a knurled hose barb.

Is it hollow? Maybe an early grease fitting?

The male piece has hole straight through, noticed I can blow through other piece but if I thread male all the way in its hard for air to go through and as its slowly backed out the more air can go through..must have been for a sprayer of some type...maybe was o-ring on it and there is a set screw as to hold male piece solid..

I would say this end definitely was to be inserted in a Rubber Hose or sleeve.

it does not appear it would work well in metal
