Here you go. Castle dig ‘could unearth treasure’Apr 27 2007

A NEW dig under way at the ruins of a medieval castle in Mid Wales could unearth buried treasure, according to a Welsh historian.
Historic monuments agency Cadw is exploring Montgomery Castle, near Welshpool in Powys.
The castle last saw action under the Herbert family during the English Civil War, when it surrendered to the Parliamentarians in 1644.
Martin Hackett, author of Lost Battlefields of Britain, said when the castle was then destroyed in 1649, the family threw down the well all their items of value, including coins and jewellery.
