Another weird one from this crazy site

Here's another folks. I've been finding everything from old colonial, to civil war artifacts to modern trash.

This rang up at 80 on 12khz. Feels heavy like lead. I can't tell if there is any inscription until I get home to clean. Any ideas?

Upon closer inspection it appears to have been padded on the inside somehow as you can see strands present. Also the one tab you see appears to have been present on all four sides (3 sides broken of. It appears to be a cover of some sort?

It's definitely old leather on the inside now that I've looked at it dry. So it originally had four tabs (one present and three broken).

I think it's too small to belong to a horse?

I'm not at all familiar with old Edison bulbs. However, I see there is lettering. In pic #1 from Post #2, I see the letters OY to the left of the tab, and it looks like a Y to the right of the tab, but in a different font than the other side.
