Another unofficial rate increase from USPS??

Since the inception of the new Parcel Select category by USPS, I've found that rates for Priority shipping are often cheaper than Parcel Select. This is especially true of shipping costs to nearby states, but not when I ship from IN to CA.

In the past week, I've noticed that Priority shipping now costs exactly the same as Parcel Select.

Did the post office get wise to the difference in shipping costs between Priority and Parcel Select, and raise their prices on Priority to match Parcel Select, or is this an anomaly that I've encountered on happenstance?

Many time priority is cheaper than parcel select. Where priority gets expensive is where you hit the dimensional weight. For example, I have a thing called a Baparoma Steam Baking Master 5 piece set on no. It will ship at 8 lbs, but the box is going to be 20 by10 by 10, so for zone 1, parcel select and priority are $11.95(shipping plus my handling charge) but to zone 8 parcel select is $21.43 and priority is $40.70!
