I believe I have posted these pieces before...but I'll give it another shot since it's pretty slow these days.

One of these was found by myself...and the other by a hunting bud of mine. They both were found on the same day, at the same site...within 20 feet or so of each other.

ALL of our finds from this site were from the war of 1812...some U.S....some British.

The small (slightly smaller than a dime) 5 cent piece is for size.

These don't seem to quite fit together (as both are broken on the ends)...which suggests to me there are more pieces like this to be found there. Where the large disc shaped portion is, they look like they would have been attached.

I believe they are a heavy brass...maybe bronze!? Nice green patina either way.

They appear to be rivets used on an Online "autofeed" machine press for assembling leather harnesses.

Thanks for the replies folks. I am told by a gentleman on another site that these are rivets which were used for plugging holes on trade kettles. An item usually found on fur trade era sites.

Hey there, what's that nice looking silver coin, Canadian?

Yep...1907 "fishscale" or 5 cent piece. Smaller than a modern dime...and the smallest coin we have.
