Another shipwreck, bulkhead or dock

Found this on a beach in NC. Approx 5 feet long, has what I think are called trunells with foxtail wedge, square nail holes with one nail still intact and also what appears to be a dowl rod all used. Any thoughts as to what it is or how old it maybe would be greatly appreciated.

I believe you are correct, although many people call those " treenails, " but either term is correct.

Could be, but hard to tell. They were also used in bridge construction, etc., so being found near the water, it may have been from either.

If it's an ocean beach I'd say a wreck...nice find!
