Well it's been a while since I've had time to go metal detecting,* but got a little lull in between beans and cotton. After they cut the beans where I found my 1840-o seated liberty dime I figured other was time to get over there. We'll, I was put there 3 minutes, and my first good signal other than iron was a solid 38 on my minelab. Looked down cause it was doing the double chirp each time I swiped, and saw the edge of a silver coin! My second seated liberty dime, and to boot it also was an 1840-o! My belief is still true. If ya find something good your first ten minutes out, you might as well go home cause I swear everytime I do I find nothing good for rest of the day. Well I went back next day, dad came with me cause he was getting frustrated at me for getting some good stuff. 20 minutes in he hits a 38 on his minelab, but he pulled a mississippi infantry button. Made in new Orleans.* The Haynes an Scoville I THINK? Can't remember. Anyway, ready for winter to hit this hill hard. Thanks for looking, I've rambled on enough. The messed up one I found 20ft from the good one. Same year, same mint.

Thanks. I love it!

nice! I agree about the 20 minute rule. That rule also goes for me bass fishing.

A great find when two seated dimes of the same year and mint are found in the same field.

Congrats on the really old Seated, I bet you'll run into some capped bust silver in there too.

Those are old school seated's too.... outstanding!

First 10, just pack it in. Bad hunt, keep adding 5;)

Nice seated. The early ones are difficult to come by.

Nice seated recoveries, congratulations! :occasion14:

I agree! When I hit something good right off the bat, I rarely have a great day. Seems like my best days come after a hour or two of mediocre finds, then I find just enough to keep me going, and then the good stuff starts to surface. Of course I've had long days without any good find too! Congratulations on the seated silver. H Digs!

Must be some kind of payment to the people of the past that lost these items. Frustration! Lol. Seems to happen to everyone.

Great coins! Must be nice to be able to metal detect in the winter... 😥 -Lisa & John

Great find, congratulations!
