I wonder if the stone is real?? What is it for??? Any help would be appreciated!! Anyways it was really exciting to find!!! And with the girlfriend watching me uncover this ring she is now in the kitchen cleaning my clad!!! Maybe she will get interested!!!

It appears to be some sort of ring for someone in the Army. I purchased a ring similar to this when I graduated from Navy boot camp. I am sure it has the same signifigance.

I can only say that all the service branches have a ring on this order which can be purchased at the PX. Surly some would be better quality than others......are there any hallmarks in the band which would help identify the metal? Nice find though.......HappyHunting......gregd573

After cleaning the inside of the ring says "Ster" so I assume it means that the ring is Solid Silver!!! It weighs an awful lot too. Man now I just wonder if this is real ruby?????

Thomas, How close to Ft. Knox are you? I was Stationed at Ft. Knox '89-'91 and I had one of those rings which I lost somewhere, who Knows? I was young and did alot of stupid things back then. Tim

HAVE YOU BEEN HUNTING LONG?
KEEP FINDING THOSE RINGS.

Wow, they teach you to kill in the marines - it's obvious they don't need to teach you manners.

Great ring, kid!

It says right on top, United States Army. Did you not see that ??? I can make it out from the picture.

No other inscriptions!! I took it to a jeweler and he said the only real worth is for the silver which is about 92% not like old coins which are 99% and considered bullion whatever that means lol!!!

Hey Thomas , What a wonderful find ! Doesn't it feel great to see that first sheen of silver in the dirt ?

I just light up , and i must say that i have a special place in my heart for beautiful silver rings. Keep on with

Actually Sterling silver has more silver than coins like merc. dimes and other pre 1964 silver coins which are 90%. Bullion coins are like Silver Eagles which are 99.9% pure silver. Some people use the term bulliion silver in talking about pre '64 coins though.
