I was out detecting the beach in Lewes. Delaware with my Dad's friend John a few weeks ago (not finding much) and we were approached by a woman and her Grandson who were curious about this great hobby. Well we showed the youngster a thing or two while pleasant conversation was exchanged. This woman told us that a friend of her neighbor lost his wedding band playing volleyball on this same beach three weeks prior. I asked the woman to show us where the game had been played, which she did and then went about her merry way after pointing out her house (in case we got lucky).
Well, 20 minutes later I had a $1000 platinum wedding band in my hands (the MXT strikes again). I'm sorry there are no pictures, I didn't have a camera or phone w/ me at the time. I returned the ring to her neighbor who, in turn, returned it to the rightful owner (a friend of their son). They stated that several people w/ detectors had combed the beach a week prior obviously to no avail. Today I received a very gracious thank you card in the mail from the ring owner and his wife. Although they had given up on finding the ring and purchased a new one, they were very excited to get the original back.
What a great feeling!!!!!
