the piece in the 3rd pic is a dust cover off of a lock

The third piece is actually the broken end from a very early copper trefoil spoon, circa 17th century.

17th Century Copper Trefoil Spoon

Not sure about the other items.

That probably makes more sense. I was thinking of these covers, and I know there are a few more, but after looking at them, the overall shape does seem to favor the Trefoil. Good call!

Thanks Creskol. :angel3:

Over the years of searching early sites in South Carolina, I had the opportunity to dig a few Trefoil Spoons, and handle pieces. They were always good indicators of a very early site, usually pre-Revolutionary War. Most of the early Trefoil style, and later 18th century Rat-Tail style spoons, were made of pewter. On occasion though, copper spoons of the same pattern are found.

CC ... Just for fun, and for a "visual education" would you mind posting a photo of the spoons you mentioned .. I would love to see your collection. Thanks!

Will gladly oblige, when I find them. :happy3: There are finds in boxes, according to location and dates, that I have not seen in years. As I grow older, I find more relics stored away, than I do in the ground. My "rainy day" indoor treasure hunts are amazingly successful.

This is awesome. I have found several end pieces of trefoil spoons and was stumped until now. This site continues to surprise me with its usefulness.
