Her call was forwarded to Oregon State Police because of lay-offs at the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office
only allows the department to be open Monday through Friday.
Police say Bellah choked the woman and sexually assaulted her. He was arrested by Oregon State Police
following the incident.
“There isn’t a day that goes by that we don’t have another victim,” Josephine County Sheriff Gil Gilberson
told Oregon Public Radio. “If you don’t pay the bill, you don’t get the service.”
The sheriff’s department had to cut 23 deputies and the entire major crimes unit after it lost a multi-million
dollar federal subsidy, according to Oregon Public Radio. There are now only six deputies left.
The sheriff’s department even put out a press release warning domestic violence victims to “consider
relocating to an area with adequate law enforcement services.”

then you downsize the daily Monday thru Friday "office" staff until you got enough people to provide 7 day a week protection -- maybe not a lot of cops but a few for the "really needed stuff" --like this

Maybe folks should think about calling a neighbor before calling the cops. Police usually arrive AFTER a crime is committed anyway. Instead of the "neighborhood watch" type program, have a neighborhood response program. Call a neighbor with a gun and then call the cops. When you tell them your armed neighbor is also responding they have a tendency to respond quicker.

And didnt red just post an article about an elderly man accidentally shot by cops because he was playing police with his neighbor. It's a real smart thing to be carrying around a gun when police are responding to a break in. And you blame the police when people get shot by accident?? Never mind the hundreds of neighbors that will be shot as they rush to the aid of trigger happy friends. Do you folks ever really think this stuff through??

We folk think everything through picker. We folk know don't be wavin' your gun around when the police finally decide to show up. Don't remember which one of us came up with that idea but it was one of the smarter ones in the group.

I drove off the 2 "home invasion" type crooks from cops from my elderly next door neighbor's home before the cops arrived * a few years back as the po po showed-- they called the cops first with me a close second --- I laid my 12 gauge pump 870 on the ground and "chatted" with the local po po , who know that I am a neighborhood defender " against armed thugs for my elderly neighbors --my motto ----your armed and rob n loot --I'll shoot

Oh I have thought it through, wife calls 911, I call my buds Springfield, Ruger and Remington..... Police takes 10-20 mins to arrive, my buds are already here waiting and they travel 1000's of feet per second to arrive.
