Another "R E G" button question

Found this in a box of old family stuff, no tellin where my mom got it. Somehow I overlooked this piece, for several years, how did I miss this?

Anyway I was going to ask about it here, then saw the other thread about the 1812 button.... any ideas would be appreciated. This one is a little different.... no writing above the eagle and it's sitting on a cannon...speaking of cannon, my camera is acting weird and I'm in a hurry...picture isn't great but you can see clearly....

Thanks for looking,

Chitlin

Re: Another "R E G" button question

If I'm using my Tice's book correctly this pattern would have been made in the late 1820's -early 1830's, for the artillery militia. But I couldn't find one exactly like it, only very similar.

Re: Another "R E G" button question

Thanks for the input. As usual in this hobby it seems, answers lead to more questions....Those buttons are similar but not exactly the same.... noticed the one mentions the fact it has only 6 spokes on the wagon wheel, while mine has 8, plus the cannon itself is different...

Just for fun, here is another photo of the button front, without the glare....

Different maker for the same unit would account for the varying design
