went back to my new field today with some good luck and not so good luck. When I got there, much to my surprise, I was greeted by six other people walking the field. They had been there the day before too. Four wheeler tracks all over the field. One of them stated he had found a couple of good points. When the owner showed up he made them leave because they did not have permission to be there. He later told me that he had run them off earlier that morning too. Anyway it turned out to be a good day after all. I came away with these and i was happy. It will most likely be the last time I get to hunt it because the owner will be planting next week and he informed me he wouldn't be plowing it up....oh well it was fun while it lasted. Would the last piece be a celt? It is wedge shaped and the edge is extremely sharp.

The last one looks more like a wedge. They did use these type of tools to break wood I do believe. You had another great day and it is too bad those other people showed up that is probably the reason you cant go back. I tell people I have a field I hunt but dont tell them where it is be cause of this type of activity.

They were local guys and the landowner said he has trouble with them trespassing all the time. Thanks for the id on the wedge.

Great hunt. Looks like a celt to me. I get so mad with the people that hunt with out permission. It ruins it for everyone. People see a field or see you in a field and the next thing you know everyone is there. At least you pulled out some stellar hunts out of it. Maybe you can offer to post the land and help keep trespassers out. If I have permission I do not hesitate to run someone off that is stealing. You did so good on this site I hate to see it end. Hunt it as long as you can Huntress. Great looking finds. If you frame the lat couple of hunts be sure and post them.

Nice finds as always.. To bad about the field. I used to do farm work when I was young. And most of the farmers say OK for me. But if you see anyone else run them off. Always pays to be a farmer/old friends. But four wheelers are a definite no-no around here.

Can we see the side of your Celt/ Wedge? Maybe we can a good decision on it.

I'm going to throw a monkey wrench in the works... I believe it's a hand chopper. If that's what you're referring to as a wedge Rock then I agree.
Does it seem to show Polish or extra smoothness on the back where someone's hand might have been?

Smaller than I thought it was. I believe a wedge is bigger than that. So maybe a chopper. Interesting though.

The surface is not all that smooth and there does not seem to be any polish on either side. I don't know if you can tell or not but the sharp edge does have some nicks in it. Could be from use. Found it where some dirt got rolled up in a pile after the skidder drug a tree through the field.

It could all be worn off...or it could be an adze. I don't see a celt because it only has a bevel on one side.

Might be sandstone which they did use to polish stone tools like Ax heads.
