Wondering if it is railroad?
Age?
No visible markings

Now that one has the shape of the ones we dig in mid 1800's sites,but it strikes me as a little later,late 1800's?

I have found a couple of RR switch locks and my wife worked at a RR for several years and most if not all the switch locks had the name of the RR on them. Monty
