Detector(s) used
Whites and Garrett. I use several machines, the ace 350 is a nice machine. I have a 5900, 6000, whites.
Primary Interest:
Relic Hunting
Today was a nice day to get out and swing the coil. I went back to a site that I detected last year, the farmer told me today that they are five weeks behind in planting. But any way I went over to the site and the ground was just perfect for detecting, they had plowed the site last fall and it was flat as a board. This site has many broken glass peaces, crockery you name it. It has lots of buried iron, pewter and many other fake targets, it is the kind of site where you have to listen or go with your gut feeling. The watch chain came up all broken sounding, so I decided to dig it, when I first pulled it out of the dirt I thought it was gold, not this time. As I was walking I picked up a couple of rocks for my fish tank, not knowing what I had put in my pouch. When I got home I was joking with my wife saying I thought I had gold but not this time, then I looked at the quartz rock and then I noticed it had little gold flakes in it, I am not sure if it is fools gold, but it has my attention. Some of the finds are kind of neat, it was worth the drive once again. HH

It is hard to tell, but I like gold evan if it is fools gold. :coffee2:

Great watch chain. Sterling?

Rock doesn't appear to have pyrite, but very interesting possible for gold, except that the rock is a little more "crystaline" than what I have ever seen for gold in quartz. Try to test it, keeping in mind that the kt. of natural gold will range from 22 to 6 and anywhere inbetween. Gold nuggets are very seldom pure. Holding my breath for you. Is there a gold mining history in the area? That is the first test to pass.

sweet finds!!! MR TUFF

super sweet finds and condition is great from a field!

No there is no gold history in the area, the field is on lake Erie near Port Talbot in Ontario Canada, I have not heard of any gold being found, but not until today, well just maybe. 8)
