I didn't think about that. It does make sense. I have a bad habit of doing specific gravity tests on almost all the stuff I find. Is there any way of getting a good reading without destroying the specimen? Either way I think it is one of the best looking specimens I have found in the past few months.

Since you have two different materials (quartz & pyrite).... No, you won't get a good reading from that.
Hardness & streak test are a dead give away on pyrite.

Man I didn't even think of that either. It's been a long 3 weeks. My first son was born so my brain is in half working mode ;)
