Hello everyone, it's my first post. I have been metal detecting since the 1970's. I used my dad's Garrett Deep Seeker back then and found enough to sell to buy my own Deep Seeker. I bought it for around $650.00 and that old thing still works as good as it did new. My daughter bought me a Garrett Ace 250 for Christmas and if I can figure it out I will post 2 pic's of what I found. I found the gold plated ring and the 2 wheat's (1925 and 1955) in my front yard along with lots of other goodies that I will try to post later. My house was built in 1922. I found the sterling bracelet at a local high school. I found the bullet at a site where a civil war camp was thought to have been. If anyone can identify the bullet I would really appreciate it. I have learned a great deal about my detector from reading the posts here. I am still having trouble with items that are on top of the ground. My detector says they are 2 inches deep. Please help me remedy this if you all can. Thanks a bunch.

Welcome and a photo tip...

Welcome to the forum!!

TO get close ups use the macro setting on the camera. It is usually a tulip icon. Place the camera on a tripod or steady surface, about 6 inches from the object you are shooting. turn OFF the flash, Change the file size to the smallest (if you are using it to shoot pics for forum posts). Use the self timer, focus, and press the shutter. You will get clear close-up shots that way.

Good Luck!!

Welcome!

My detectors getting a little outdated too. Good luck with your new one!

Hey welcome to the site and congratulations on your finds. Nice bracelet. Can't tell much about
the bullet, but looks like it might be a 3 ringer.

As for the depth on your ACE, it only show 2, 4, 6, and 8 inches, anything in between there is
only guess work. Usually if the coin is right on top of the ground, the signal will be really loud and sort
of eratic. I use a SunRay probe on my ACE 250 and when I get a signal I think is near the top, I
use my probe to pinpoint the item. Then you can use a metal probe or knife to look for the item, locate
it and pop the item out of the ground.

Looks like you already know how to use the detector, just keep practicing, that ACE 250 will give you
lots of good years of great hunting.

P.S. I use a ACE 250 also.

Welcome to the forum ! Congrats on the new ACE. Your finds will get better and better as you learn it. Good Luck and HH !

I could be wrong but after reading my manual which came with the ace 250, I took the depth thing to mean that if your 250 showed a depth of 6" it meant your find was anywhere from on top of the ground to 6" deep and same if it read 8", 4".....etc.......anyway welcome to the site and keep on swinging.....HH
