I knew it was going to be a mudfest today after all the rain. But, since they mentioned that 4 letter word for Sunday, well, you know. ;)

So, I geared up and arcticized myself. Chose a favorite site to spend the "last" day. Off I went!

I got about 5.5 hours of hunting and a pocketful of mud and finds! Hunting like there was no tomorrow, I tried to get enough to satisfy myself for however long it would be for the next hunt. I think, that if I don't get to hunt again this year, this was a pretty good way to end the year.

I'll let you judge:

Not sure what this piece is, the back has what looks like a bit of rust from the bolt but the rest isn't magnetic. :dontknow:

Blingie already has his eye on what I believe to be a girl scout earring. ;)
In case you can't tell, the coins are a dollar coin and a Canadian penny.

No ride today. But, a reminder to drive carefully this holiday season.

Image434.jpg

At least the tires held up well. ;)

Actually, this is two different cars. Neither seemed to fair very well huh? :)

Oh yeah! I almost forgot to tell you. I couldn't have planned the end of this hunt
better than the way real life turned out. You know those fireworks displays? The way
they end with a multitude of explosions?

Well, and this is a true story, as I walked to my car I was basically dragging the detector along.
I was TIRED!!! Mud and I don't get along too well.

Anyway, I get this surface hit, a dime. Then, another and another and another! All right on the surface!
Too late to make this shorter but after it was all over I had a quarter, 5 nickels and 6 dimes! All in a space of about 2 feet!

Ok, now I need everyone to be very, very quiet. Blingie has fallen asleep and he doesn't
know about this next find. I'm figuring to give it to him
for Christmas.

So, everyone? Shhhhhh! Mum's the word! OK? ;)

8.6 grams .925 silver
(I know it's missing a stone, believe me, I looked as hard as I could!)

Now, how about that for a "last" hunt of the year?
(somehow, unless the ground freezes solid, I suspect I'll sneak in another before the end of December. ;) )

Thanks for visiting! Hope it was worth the time.

Beautiful pin. Nice that the snow and cold missed you.

Very nice pin and I hope you can get a few more hunts in.

Great finds! Tried to get out today in southern Minnesota and no luck! Ground is frozen solid now :(! Keep getting that last hunt in!

Nice finds, Merry Christmas Blingie!

Nice finds, hopefully you'll be able to get out a couple of more times, I hope I can. Here in Detroit it's pretty cold,it's been in the 20's the last few days Burrrrrrr!

nice pin!, looks like it was worth your effort gearing up.

Well, it didn't so much "miss" as it did delay a bit. ;) I figured it might be a last chance.

Thanks!

Reminds me of when I got started, way back when.
I bought a radio shack toy and was hot to try it out. But, I bought it for myself at Christmas! I got ALL those gold doubloon hits! Inches down! And I couldn't blast my way into the ground! LOL

I'll be trying again, I'm sure.

Thanks!

You can borrow my jackhammer if needed. ;) But, I'll need it back soon. :)

Thanks!

Yep, this time. But you know as well as I, it doesn't always turn out with a happy ending. :)

I do feel very blessed. It has been a great year for finds!

Thanks!

WhadIfind, I am a sucker for a nice Smith and Wesson buckle. Yours as seen better days! Great hunt man, I am under 10" of snow now, can't hunt until the big thaw! Sub 8-)swbuckle.jpg

Now that really is neat! So that's what this used to be! Is that a modern thing?

Maybe you can find some deep leaf layered woods? I hear they generate their own heat. ;)

Thanks for the info!

These very cool buckles were minted in the late 1970's and into the 1980's. I like to believe that the revolver pictured on the buckle is a Model 29-2 .44 magnum, with 6 1/2" barrel, target trigger, hammer, sites, and grips...you know...the works! (Dirty Harry style.) Sub 8-)

Yep that's neat!
And here I was imagining it was Hopalong Cassidy's gun. ;) LOL

Thanks!

Here's a couple more pics of the pin cleaned up a bit.

I thought this was just some sort of engraving design. But, I see now all these little sharp shapes that must've been
placed on this piece, one by one! There's a LOT more work on this then I thought!

PIN2.jpg

Here's the close up of the marks. Anyone familiar with this jeweler's mark?

PIN3.jpg

And this is as clean as I dare to go. Especially now that I know
of all those tiny individual pieces that could get lost! (YIKES! Was I fortunate!)

Thanks!
