Not quite as nice as the banner find from our friend Rick but it made my day! I got out with a couple buds to a new site which showed some potential...at least on the maps. Found the One Stiver copper and the 1884 Canada Five Cent. A key date with a relatively low mintage. Price guide is a few years old so may be worth a couple dollars more now. After a couple hours on this site we went to my honey hole and got a couple more keepers! Beautiful day for detecting and a fun time! Looks like spring really is here now!

Yeah you guys are definitely hitting the key dates! But not a surprise because I think I dug all the common ones in the early 2000s. :)

It just occurred to me that this one was found less than a KM from where Rick found his key date New Brunswick silver...good area I guess!

Sure is strange how it works because in the early days IH and I used to come home with multiple silver quite often and I sure don't remember too many good years. And if there was, he got them all because the only one I've ever found was a holed NB. Of course we eventually gave up on that stuff... well I did. (He never will) :laughing7:

I can't give up on it because I never really started...finding silver is just a byproduct of looking for that next belt plate!!

Yeah it still works that way for me, but now very few silver per year compared to 70 or 80 back in the day. I'm quite content to just get the old though.

You're on a roll! But you're reminding me it's been a while since I've seen any silver pop out!

AWESOME find !

Any hunt with a half dime (5 cent silver) is a good day / dig. (at least for me they are)

and this is a MAJOR KEY DATE.

It's pretty cool when you find a coin that are not included in a lot of "collections"

For a bit of perspective.
Rarity compared to 1916D merc dime.

This coin for sale (1884 CAN 5 cent) on Ebay today, 10 examples for sale.

Get out there and get some! Grab the Patriot and make a road trip to my neck of the woods...I'll hook ya up!

Very nice Romeo! I've only found 1 piece of Canadian silver in all my years of detecting, and it was an 1875H dime. Talk about luck .....

WOW I should say, that's another that is missing from most collections.

That'll work for me! A road trip or two is in order for this year.

Whoops - forgot the pic .....

Yes, that is damn lucky. I know two people (personally) that have found them, and can guarantee they didn't dig just one Canadian silver coin! One of the two has probably dug many hundreds of silver and I bet he'd consider the 1875 lucky for him.
