As a team we have an objective to find 1 new site (Celtic,Roman,or Saxon) every year. We have yet to find one this year & yesterday was just another one of those very promising Archaeological leads that turned into nothing. Land-Mag has been researching hard & gained yet another farm for us to search. After 1.5 hours & 3 fields later we realised there was no site, but need to return when the conditions are better (very choppy clay).
So after lunch we did 4 hours on a freshly ploughed/disced Roman Site. We did far better than expected:

26 Roman Bronze Coins
1 Roman Silver - Sabina (Hadrians wife)
Bent Hod Hill 1st C AD Fibula (Brooch)
Small piece of a Roman Box Seal Lid
Very Rare 6/7th C AD Saxon Gold Chip Carved Wrist Clasp (High Status)
1470s French Charles the Bold Double Patard Hammered Silver!
Iron Age (Celtic) 1st C BC - 1st C AD Penannular Brooch - Amazing condition with pin

Congrats on the awesome finds. Can only dream of hunting a place like that.

Good Lord dude, you're killing it! Congratulations.

So much history, so little time. Fantasy hunts for history lovers without that kind history under their feet. Congratulations on a great day!

Wow - you killed it Cru!! Love those 2 awesome and very unique silver coins, and you have some other incredible artifacts to go with them. Heck of a hunt!!

CRUSDER THE RAIDER I HAVE RUN OUT OF THINGS TO SAY.

Man you are killing it, as always, those silvers are nice

Funny thing is that hammered Silver is the first hammered we have ever got from this field - odd.

Although I got most of the finds, it not just me killing it, it's Cru'Dad as well. At one point towards the start of the hunt he had more Roman Coins than me.

Very true, so little time & too many fields.

Thanks, its one of our better hauls this year. (In terms of recordable finds)

Cru, the variety of finds that you and your Dad turn up never cease to amaze mate! :occasion14:
Love the large pottery frags and of course, the silver 'Sabina' coin and the Saxon Gold Chip Carved Mount!

I love the penannular brooch and Saxon bit, very very nice artifacts! I am curious about the designation of the brooch as Celtic, you are more well aware than I about what features indicate it as such, versus one dating later or from Scandinavian makers/sources, so I was wondering if you could clarify if possible as I'm genuinely curious?

Incredible finds ! Love the complete Brooch w/ pin , and the Silvers !!!! You guys are "Hoovering " up some history for sure !

Sheesh... I hate you limey Bast*rds :P
You suck...
You guys just walk out in your yard and find stuff that the king... queen... or pope used when they were kids.

My girl says I am just jealous...
I looked and her and said...
Your right. :P

Sheesh over here we have to HUNT... get perms... Sign our life away... dig for years...
You guys... just sit on your couch and the stuff comes to you... and knocks on your friggin door.

Sheesh you and your finds are probably enjoying a nice beer together as we speak... like long lost reunited buds :P

I'd say that was a hugely successful hunt. What do you do with your Roman bronze coins as far as cleaning? You post a lot of them, and I've always been curious.
