Love that button, that is nice. I also hunt Nashville and it looks like you beat me to a good spot. Congrats.

Thanks..this fall lets get together and hunt. We'll go knock on some doors... Also I'm working on a couple potential places if you want to go with...

Great finds, love the button! Don't so much get cool relics up here in mich.

jpro....I'll try and get in touch with you when the weather cools down....I don't hunt much when it's hot. Talk to ya soon.

Gorgeous button, love the contrast between the patina and remaining gilt. Sweet drop as well, great condition.

Beautiful right? They don't come out go the ground looking like this that often. The other eagle I dug just looked knarly, beat up a little. And you're right, the dropped looked pretty good too. Just think if we dug relics back in the 70's what they would look like as opposed to today..50yrs makes a difference.

I did dig relics back in the 70's in and around Nashville, Murfreesboro, Franklin, and many other places. Buttons came out a whole lot better then, trust me. Acid rain, fertilizers, and everything else has really hurt the quality, so when you dig one with the shank or a lot of gilt or that is still pretty solid, then you are lucky.

I too was a 60s and 70s hunter, first with modified GI mine detector, then a metrotech (which I still have!). You found more buttons with cloth still attached back then, too. To say nothing of cartridge box inserts and canteens which would almost still hold water. The tin stuff is pretty much gone today (deterioration)
