Picked up my 2 boxes from the downtown bank I use. Took in the chocolate coins, one little bag for the tellers and another for the vault. Not a big hit but I thought it was a nice gesture anyways. Right away I seen since I also had ordered 2 for Monday at the same time as these, I got Fed boxes instead of the brinks boxes. A little disappointing as I had a really good brinks box earlier this week but the big flat boxes are easier to carry 2 at a time than the double deckers. Time is of the essence as my aunts BF was picking me up a box from his CU and I had to search and dump one box to pay him off. First box was the best #wise but they were all above my 5 per box average. First box had 14 40%ers and 1 '64. Dump, wait in line with everyone getting paid... Second box was the one from the CU, 6 40%ers- my grandma started helping me with them as she lives with my aunt. First I would search the rolls and hand them to her to play with, then after I had explained to her what I was looking for- 1970 and older, 1987, and any of these mirror coins. I openned a roll and from the edge I seen a 40 so I let her find it and from then on we were gettin after it. My aunt and her BF had went out to eat before I got there so not wanting to leave with his money or leave his money there after the second box was done I went out to the truck and got the last box. We set up shop at the kitchen table and first roll had a 40, third roll had a Walker, about ten rolls after that my lil ole Gramma (with a mouthful of peanutbutter and crackers) is going I got one, I got one. Well yea gramma I seen the silver when I openned the roll for you, "No, I got an 87!!!" Cracker crumbs flying everywhere. Sure enough she did too, very nice shape too. I have searched 28 boxes to date and hadn't found one- happens to be my daughters birthdate and I want to make a necklace for her. Then Grams found the silver I was talking about a Ben. Grams is kickin my but here. So I told her, hey Grams I would really like to find a 1970 LOL, unfortunately she wasn't able to pull that one off this time but after I dump in the morning I got 2 more boxes to pickup by noon and Grams said to be sure and bring another box over. haha Total for box #3 was a Walker, a Ben, a '64, 5 40%ers and a beautiful 1987D.
Total for the day
one Walker, one Ben, two 64's, and 25 40%ers and the 87. Thats a 10 per box average woohoo. And good quality time spent with Gramma=Priceless. HH all, Mark

Who cares if you found nothing at all......you spent time with your grandma which is the best thing possible, treasure these moments with her. Mine was my best friend we laid her to rest 5 years ago.
very nice finds also.
Best Wished, Ray

You know them parts of the boxes when your not findin anything for awhile- Gramma says this ain't as much fun anymore we better find somethin quick haha. Just like earlier this week- my box had 2 silvers showin on roll ends, so I let my mom open them. That was great but after that she snatched 3 more rolls and didn't find nothin so that was it for that- think Ma would have to be an edge hunter whereas Grams was content to read all the dates haha. May get to go see Grams later today and see ifn she can pull a '70 out of one of todays boxes- she definately had the touch last night. HH Mark

Your right Mark, spending time with your Grandma is priceless!!!! My Grandma passed away in 1973, and I still miss her greatly. Spend as much time with her as possible. Sounds like ya'll are having a great time with this hobby.

Congratulations on the nice fines!

Disappointing Saturday. Dumped all my rejects from last night and went to the CU to pickup my 2 boxes. They weren't delivered because Loomis was out of halves. That is what they told me anyways. I thought sure Grams could have pulled me a 1970 with that midas touch of hers haha. Said they would reorder Tuesday and would be in Wednesday.
Here's a question. Should I hit them hard and make them get more halves from the Fed, or just stick with getting my boxes at the other places. I almost said your other two branches didn't have any trouble getting 2 boxes apiece but I'm trying to be discreet haha. My vacation hunting money should be in early next week. Think I should hit them up for 7 boxes- or would Loomis not even try to fill it. Hope they don't get a bunch of halves from my dumps carrier. haha. I'm taking vacation in a week or so but I think I should pound them so they have to get more halves from the Fed and hope they're not all 99d's. I will swing by the one friendly branch I encountered on Wed and see what they say about such a large order. Maybe I need to try to order bags sos they have to come from the Fed?
Anybody got any tips on how the system works I'd appreciate the input.
So I got stuck with only 9 boxes for the week, not 11 but is still a record for me. HH all Mark

Nice job Mark. I enjoyed the story with Grandma......pretty funny. Yes, quality time as well....something to cherish.

Kudos on the silver snatch!

Personally, I wouldn't push the issue.....see what happens on the next order. Keep them as an ally...not an enemy....you can catch more flies with honey..... ;)

Good luck Mark.
