Recently just found my first buffalo nickel. Went back out to an area I have been searching and popped out a nickel sized object. At first I thought it was just a similar sized disc because it hadn’t come out looking like any other nickels I have dug. Turned out to be a 1905!

Won’t be able to hunt for a month, heading out to California so it was nice to find this before I left. Maybe I’ll find an old abandoned cave while I’m out in the Mojave desert!

Bring your detector with you! We do detect here in California too you know! :hello:

Very cool finds. I love when I get an old nickel and can just tell by the patina/wear that it's not going to be a ho hum Jefferson.

Good job on some nice nickles hope you find that old cave in Cali be careful those can be dangerous. Have fun and great post. Tommy

You have yourself a liberty head Nickel or V nickel nice find! It's hard to find those old Nickels in good shape the ground wears on them.

Buffalo nickles were minted 1913 to 1938.. Sorry you still need to find one lol. But hey ill trade you my Buffalo for that "V" nickle! Congrats!

Congrats on another first- keep knocking them off the list!
