ANOTHER FIRST FOR ME: 1826 HALF CENT AT A HALF INCH

Well I found my oldest coin so far today. 1826 half cent which was only 1/2 inch deep. Local park, small town, Illinois, with the DFX. Not the best shape and on top of that I knicked it with my digging tool. Being a half inch deep, I got lazy and just popped it out without much care. Another lesson learned by this rookie.

Ooops! Oh well, it' still an awesome find! That's a Varierty 1, which is common, unlike the Variety 2, which is scarce, but it's still a beautiful coin, scratches or not. VERY NICE find! HH!

Looks like it had some nicks before you found it, still an awesome find! Many of my oldest finds have been in the shallow depths, too... I have nothing that old!!!

Very nice coin! It's weird how that works, sometimes they are deep, sometimes not... I found a merc at 1/2 an inch once and it took me by surprise too.
