It looks like some type of stopper or pestle, but I really can't tell from the pics. Can you take a closer photo of it? Also, what material is it? Breezie

It's metal heavy for it's size. magnet won't stick. maybe brass

I'm sure it's not a pestle due to the rather pointed end. My vote is for a bottle stopper. It would seem to make more sense given the diameter of the object. Just my opinion.

My first thought was stopper, my second was pestal, but I think it is a pestal because most bottle stopper(old & new) are tappered or pointed at the end. This one gets larger at the end instead of smaller. If the other end was used, it would be top heavy. There were pestal with pointed ends, especially the metal ones. I'd still like to see more photos. JMO, Breezie

I agree, the pointed end, diameter and overall size all go against a pestle, in my opinion also.
As for a stopper........ I don't think that is what it is either, unless it was once covered in cork or similar material.
It is very similar to a firing pin design but if so, it wouldn't be brass as far as I am aware!
If BuckleBoy or Big Cy read this, odds are one of them will know what it is.

Good suggestions on this piece :icon_thumright: :icon_thumright: It is rather small in size, but may still function as a tool (puncher) :dontknow:

Some close up pics of the tip may help.

some more pics as requested. You may notice the pic of the end of this object has a small dimple.
