Got back out the same place. Was moving over to try a new area and got an odd signal in an area I quickly searched before. Sounded too big to be a coin, but it was a few inches down, so decided to dig. After the plug was out, the pin pointer found a nail. Then found a second nail. Then finally a large disc came out. WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT? Unbelievable. Could see the draped bust outline but it looked a little beat. Finally moved to a new area and got a monster button. Then a few minutes later got a jumbled signal. Out popped a 43-P WTN. That couldn't have given that signal. Rechecked and get a wheat cent. Put the pinpointer in the hole and nothing else. Pass my detector over a small patch of dirt and a high tone! Thinking possible merc I was surprised to see a larger silver. Turned out to be a 1939 Washington stuck to a 1937 wheat.

Got home and cleaned up the LC. She's flaking like crazy but I think it might be an 1803. Can you guys make anything out? Too bad it's pretty much toast.

HH all!

Hard to say....I thought 1805 but it's just so hard to get a date when they are like that. Mine are always like that too, lol. Great hunt! Congrats!

Congrats on the goods, I really need to head East, all these LC are killing me. : )

Sweet, DB, congrats!

Bummer, just another draped bust large cent! That is one series of LCs I still need to check off my list. I've found classic head as well as liberty cap LCs, but still no draped..... BTW, it looks like 1803 to me as well. Keep posting the great finds.

Really nice haul. Congrats on the LC... toasted or not... still an LC!

Great finds! Hard to tell on the LC- looks like a 3 but could be a 5???? Nice coins regardless... -- Jeff --

Thanks everyone and thanks MaineRelic! Seems to be spitting out some oldies... hoping for an old piece of silver from here. Oldest so far is a worn 1892 Barber quarter that was lost probably in the 1910s or 20s.
