Bits yesterday included an early 'Boulder Dam' momento (1932-1947 as it was officially named Hoover Dam in 1947), a sash piece(?) made in Czechoslovakia, 1921 and 1930 wheats, a toy fork, a navy button and a variety of work clothes buttons.

This thing has me puzzled, can anybody identify it?

Nice assortment of finds that stand the test of time in the arid site-well excluding the plate.
The one with the crossed rifles is a nice recovery. CAL.=calvary or just a ID of a person?

Thanks Pepper! I have no idea what it is or what the stamps mean. Was hoping somebody here could identify it.

CAL in the military vernacular is short for CALIBER as in ammunition. Could be an ammo tag with out the cartridge stamp, as might be placed on a wooden ammo case, but that is purely speculation. Company E could be the owner or destination of this hypothetical ammo case. It has a definite WWI feel to it. That is a neat find!
