Ok we went out again will post in todays finds tomorrow hopefully, a buddy of mine found a button that says:

A.J. Tower Co. Boston the letters on the button are incesed not raised any idea on the date???

Here is one I dug .. I sent mine off, and it was dated to 1886 - 1900. They sent me a three pages of AJ Tower histoy when I got it back, which I will be happy to share if you would like.

I found a button that was marked like that in a CW camp in WV. It was a weird button as I recall...lemme see if I still have it somewhere.

I am obsessed with buttons and yes I have binders with 2 and 4-holed buttons in alphabetical order.

Walking slicker

Mfgd. by A.J. Tower Co.-Boston

2 layers of linen treated w/beeswax, pine tar & linseed oil, adult size, tan wool collar, 2 waist pockets, Rare, c.1890, Good to VG condition.

I actually dug one of these buttons before. It made it home with me and when I dumped all my finds in the sink it broke. I tried gluing, but it wouldn't go back together.
