Another Civil War What Is It

Found in a Confederate camp about ten feet from a Block C button. Any idea what it is?

Looks like horse equipment. Possibly from a bridle. I don't get the feeling it is CW, but I can't prove it either way.

Remember, a good camp spot in the 1860's continued to be a good camp spot for a long time afterwards, and maybe it still is... I always expect post CW relics at a camp area.

Yes, I know you’re right DCMatt, but I hate to write something off until I’m sure what it is. About 40 years ago I hunted a spot where I found several brass pieces I thought were pipe fittings. I threw them all away and later found out they were artillery fuses. [emoji12] when I finally got back to the spot, they were all gone, found by someone else. I bet he’s still laughing about the dummy who threw away a handful of artillery fuses....[emoji16]

Wow, how cool is that, it’s the exact same piece! All of the relics I’ve found at my site are Civil War and earlier. I’ve found 6 flat button, several mini balls and an 1817 large cent at this spot. With two of these found, someone must know what it is.

I don’t know what it is either, i thought maybe suspenders or something. I find a few things going back to1880 or so then a big missing gap and I have found things from the 1830’s. So maybe pre civil war? Or maybe I’m just dreaming because It would mean I have another early site to hunt harder.
