I myself found a silver proof dime early last year (2013). They certainly look strange when compared to other silver Rosie's of general circulation. But, still a keeper, but a little special.

Nice...I haven't found a modern S mint proof made of silver yet (I did find a proof Ben, not the best shape but silver with mirrored surfaces). Very cool!

NIce find
Pic a little fuzzy, if you have any question, weigh the coin
12.5 gm = 90% silver proof
11.34 gm = CuNi proof

thanks, verified on the scale...my first modern silver proof. Worn...but still silver :)

thanks for the tip, threw it on the scale and verified.

Can I assume my Bi-centential Kennedy S proof is Silver if the reeding look like that too, all silver ???

dang, that looks even worse in the second picture, but hey, silver is silver! Not many can say they've found a silver proof half dollar. I have found a few silver proofs, but they were all 40%ers from 1968 & 1969. Also, 2008 is a lower mintage year from what I gather! :)

There were NO proof halves made in 1968 or 1969. There were mint sets but they are not proof coins.

If it has the silver edge, yes. But it is 40%. The modern silver proofs are all 90%.

That's what I thought I had at first. Had to check.
