I think those holes were made by erosion. A fossil such as a crinoid stem may have eroded out leaving the voids. If not fossils, some other softer material eroded away. They do not look drilled by man. Like you, I would have brought them back to "the lab" for further scrutiny.
 

Natural but we all would pick it up and look. Still, the big hole is perfectly round but overall it doesn't look like it would suit any purpose.
 

Don`t throw away...looks like circular striations in large hole...could we see the other side?
Look for the little Star in the 2nd picture near the hole. The star must be some kind of fossil but has nothing to do with being man made. Possibly sinker.

Unfortunately they are natural. Keep on looking something nice will pop up.
