Civilian Flower button... the *gold* & *Rich* back mark is a quality mark... the button is of high quality... was gold gilted prolly... and dates mide to late 1800s?

She's a beauty!

Says: *RICH GOLD* COLOUR*

As said would have be gold gilt

Someone should know the above backmark.

My guess mid 19th century.

I have always considered that type to be pre Civil War, closer to 1830-1840's, especially based on the number similar found on homesteads abandoned in the late 1830's to 1840's.
