I did reach one of my goals at "quarterback school". Over $100 now.

Wind was brutal - did a 70 minute hunt in the AM and found 10 quarters 14 dimes, 3 nickels (2 were with a pocket spill) and 10 cents. A 1957 wheat ear. Newer one, but at least not a Zlincoln. I also found a toy (hot wheel) car and a bronze? Pope Paul VI medallion(no date so anywhere from 1963 to 1978).

Went back just as the (light) rains started so just stuck it out for 30 minutes. Another 6 quarters, 5 dimes and 3 cents. A little over $6 in clad for a total of 1 hour 40 minute hunt. Better than I have done in some tot lots.

BTW, up to 272 quarters. I just may break 300 if the rug rats lose enough over the summer.

Sweet - 300 quarters and its only March, if you keep this pace you will have over 1,000 by the end of the season!!!! :icon_pirat:

LOL - I only wish. Closing in on 300 at one school, but since April 2007. It is still the only site where I have more quarters (272) than cents (213). Usually it is 1 quarter for every 4 or 5 cents *ugh*

Ozzie,

Have you ever tried skipping over the pennies and digging only quarters? Sometimes (at a park) I'll do that, because I figure in the time it takes to detect, pinpoint, and dig 2 pennies, I could be doing a quarter. And then I figure I'll always come back later for the pennies (thought hat never really works out, because I find more parks with more quarters and abandon the cents, lol).

Nice job on the clad! I kinda miss hitting the parks and schools and just filling my pockets with clad and silver rings.

Actually in the summer I just coin pop quarters from parks and stuff. It is hit or miss, but when you find a spot you can load up on quarters fast!

Here's the Pope Paul VI medallion. It may or may not have been silver plated at one time. Never found an exact match on the web. IIRC that be St. Christopher on the back. It is slightly larger than a quarter.
