Thanks for sharing. Do you know if you are searching bank-wrapped notes or notes directly reissued by the Federal Reserve?

Hey,

I asked because the the FED reissued bundles, the notes go through a screening process to determine if they are 'fit' for re-circulation. Typically bank bundles do not have this process of weeding out the more worn notes. So if you only search FED bundles you will find notes that are basically VF condition or better (with some exceptions of lower quality that squeezes through) but you have a 0% chance of finding a silver certificate or a U.S. note. However if you are searching bank straps then you will come across the notes that are totally worn out, stained, torn, missing sections, etc. but you also stand a chance of finding a silver cert or U.S. note.

Back in 2009 when I searched $1s a lot, I was getting them from my bank which got them directly from a local vending machine company. The vending machine company deposited $2K-$3K per day in $1s so getting them was never a problem. Some days I searched over $10K in $1s. Too much work for too little return but it was a lot of fun and I liked analyzing the data.

wow!!! thats AWESOME!!!!!!! i wish i had access to that many bills!!! thats crazy awesome! and ya, do i sure get my share of really worn bills! im sure you know, since you search that many bills...i do however have a feeling my bank thinks its funny to mix their mutilated currency in with my bills :laughing9: ever time i get $500 or more, ill find a strap that has about 5 bills that were ripped and taped back together, at the back of the strap, and that strap always has about 10-20 bills that are so worn you hardly wanna touch them due to fear of getting aids :laughing9: thanks for the response! keep it up and hh!
