Hi All,
Had a quick walk round a new field this afternoon,
and found this:

Animal-Pin-1.webp

Animal-Pin-2.webp

Animal-Pin-3.webp

Is it a pin or brooch of some kind? The gap between the back legs would allow the pin (tail) to be bent between them to fasten to something at the front of the animal.
Whats left of it looks like a sheep - or it just might be the effect of the corrosion.
Any ideas?
The animal is 23mm long (but has the head missing!)
Best wishes,
David.

I found something a little similar with the same size brass wire going throw the middle of a lead-alloy object. Mind looks like a Roman Goddess & I thought it to be Victorian. No idea on the function, & no idea on yours I'm afraid :dontknow:

First pic looks like where the "legs" are - something broke off. Was more to it. Underneath that part.

Second pic - glob on a stick. ;D

Re: Animal Brooch or Pin (Don't think it's a pin or Broach)

Hi Dave,
I've seen something close to this a few years back. I don't think it's an animal but a person that's sitting on a seat of maybe a tractor or a race car and it bobbed up and down. Look at the little fitting on the bar close to the end. It has small protrusions that were struck by a geared hammer or finger. The figure is missing it's head and legs and arms or hands. It might be from a toy or mechanical bank or even an animated clock. Of course this is only my opinion, but I hope it gives you some other options other than the pin or broach. I would think a piece of jewelry would be pretty fancy and made out of a good metal.

Like this you mean:

From a Sheep - to a man in Sheep Skin coat.
Yes - I'll accept your opinion on this, - I'll go back now and see if I can find the rest of the toy.
Thanks.
