This came with a boxful of tools I bought. It looks familiar, seems like I've seen one before. Has the number 5048, but no other markings. The guy had been a Ford mechanic for 30 years. These are 2 pics of the same tool. The end has been pounded on, it is mushrooming out like a chisel end.

What other kinds of tools came in the box? That might offer a clue.

Someone in this link says its a drum brake adjusting tool, but I'm too tired to confirm it: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly! - The Garage Journal Board

Edit: re-reading that link I see the brake adjuster was referring to the wrong item, but maybe something in there will jar someone's memory. A bushing cutter was an interesting guess.

Looks like it's designed for working concrete or stone in an inside corner.

I stopped by my local flea market today and see this in the guy who sells tools booth. I can have one just like yours for less then 4 bucks. I haven't verified his description on it though.

I'm embarrassed, I should've known this one, but then again, I just use the " blue wrench" !

iron.jpglooks more like a plumbers tool,a caulking iron, used to pack hubs on pipe before leading. rarely used anymore since introduction of pvc pipe.
