I was searching the field beside the 1849 church and not finding much worth mentioning and a relative of my wife's who lives across the street asked me if I was finding anything and also asked me to come over in his yard and see if there was anything there. It's been so dry that I told him I didn't want to disturb the grass much but I would run the detector over the yard just to see what I could come back to dig up once it rained some. I got a half dollar signal right off at 4" deep and told him that but it might kill the grass to dig it up and he said let me dig it up. I handed him my knife and he went to town after the half dollar signal. After he dug a pretty big glaring hole he flipped a 1979 Kennedy half out with the knife. I rechecked the hole and found a 1970 memorial cent too. He had so much fun digging it up that I gave it to him. Here's a pic I took with my cell phone. It's not a good pic but here it is anyhow. There's a lot of coin signals there and he wants me to come back. That house is pretty old so you just never know. Might be some goodies there. Have a good one y'all

WTG danglangley... I bet you have kick started this person’s curiosity to the point of no return... Can't wait to see what you find once the ground softens up...

HH Robert...

"Dang Dang, that's a big boy you got there." Nice find. Next time hunt the yard when he isn't home. ;D
Congrats,
MM

Cool find--er--give, I dug a 1898 Nickle right in front of a antique store owners door step (sidwalk dig)about a month ago. He had been just talking to me and was intrested in metal detecting, I gave it to him and made a friend for life. Somtimes it means more to them than to us. If it was a silver quarter or more I likey would have kept it though.

You can't buy permission for 50 cent's Dang.....Tear it up(as soon as the rain's come)Good Luck and keep us posted..

Hope he doesn't expect you to give him everything you find there! I know what you mean about the dryness. I had a lot of good signals in the grass today at several parks but the ground is so dry I only dug two holes (a penny and a pull tab >:().
