Sorry, thought it was funny.
Wife and I stopped by my parents after a fun day out and my dad dug this out of his shop and threw it in my truck. I know there is an older one somewhere on his property. I remember it when I was very young. One of the coils on it had to be as big as I was at the time. We looked a little while but couldn't find it.
Found a truck load of other "relics", they are in the back of my truck. About $9 in clad and pennies and what is in the picture.
Found four wheats in one hole. Damn cheapskates couldn't loose quarters instead of pennies.
I don't know much about buttons, this one looks to have a blue enamel on it, guess I could clean it up and take a better picture.
The bowtie thing has two spikes in the back like it attaches to a strap or something. Maybe on a shoe.
I got a kick out of the play dime and the tea spoon is silver plated.
My wife dug most of the trash and left the good stuff for me. She is so sweet like that.

Dang it, is there any way to put text between the pictures and not all at the top?
And apparently I posted this in the "what is it" and not the "todays finds". Dammit, I'm tired. sorry

Awesome -
You did it right - 'what is the bow-tie thing?' belongs here :headbang:

For writing between pics - my method:

First pic;
click on the 'redline' camera above the smileys, top left.
Go down to the Browse button,
search your files for half an hour trying to remember the name of the pic you wanted to add, then give up and start again.
Add the 'found' pic.
Secondly, write what you want to, before hitting the same camera icon.
Then change the 'attach=1' to attach=2, (next one 'attach=3' etc, etc) then load the pic you want, using the usual method. Write between each, as you wish.
I hope I have helped.
Cheers, Mike

Even though your button pic is dark, I lightened it up a bit for my own use and it looks like a Michigan Military Academy button from Orchard lake Michigan. It has the Michigan State Seal on it, if I can find my pic on here from my post " Blast from the Past" I will post it here..........NGE

Big help, thanks. I started trying to investigate what it was. I'm not into buttons but was curious about this one. Really was like a needle in a haystack for me since I know so very little so I gave up. If you could find your pic it would be greatly appreciated.

I see people still use the 6000. Like I said, my dad took it off a shelf and put it in my truck. This one hasn't been used in decades and very little when it was used. I really want to find the older one he has somewhere on his property but no luck yet.

It resembles the Michigan Military Academy/ Mich State Seal and the British General Service button but I dont think its either.

The only reason I suggested MMA was because I thought I could barely see a deer standing against either side of the center shield............NGE YES, we do need a better pic.

Yes its similar but the Michigan Seal has an eagle on top and this button has a crown like the British General Service but its not a match there either. It may be a rampant lion on the shield. A better pic and Im sure I could match it. Im leaning toward a civilian blazer button with Crest, Crown and Lions..
Im pretty sure that what it is.

Pretty sure that picture you posted is it BigCypress. I will post a clearer picture this evening, gotta get to the shop right now. So that means it's not old or special or anything then?

Although it resembles the Belgian Crest, and the rampant lion is used by the Dutch, I have seen enough of these buttons here to recognize it as a civilian blazer button. You may post another pic and a pic of the back if you like but its most likely rusted out. It may be old, but because its listed as a fashion crest shield button, it would make it minimal value and of little importance. Still made today by the Waterbury Button Company.. http://www.waterburybutton.com/cart/pc/viewPrd.asp?idcategory=0&idproduct=29751 Could possibly be used on a non-military career uniform.
