Ancient Pottery?

Clearly this was man made. I was wondering if anyone knew which tribe may have made it and what sort of pottery it is? I found it in western Vermont Pittsford/Rutland area.

Interesting piece for sure. I don't know a thing about ancient pottery, but in checking on line, I do see a lot of Native American pottery displays ribs consistent with the ones shown in the first photograph.
