Ancient/old ring identification?

I recently purchased this ring online, which was listed as being made of bronze and from the "Byzantine/Medieval" period.

Is this an accurate description, and if so, any rough guesses as to the age?

I've attached some close-up shots, along with some nifty microscopic photos of the hands and joint where it was resized at one point.

Any feedback would be much appreciated!

I've only seen a handful of old rings and small objects such as Roman and or Medieval type things up close, so with that I'm thinking it was made sometime in the later 19th century by the style of it and how it looks to have been made. That break joint and solder on the bottom looks like a repair or sizing a more recent kind a jeweler would do. Do you know for sure if it's made of bronze? I only see the green patina at what looks like is coming from the solder joint? To me it looks like a base metal with corrosion that was possibly once plated. That just my opinion and I won't be supersized if I'm way off on that

I with tamrock. I have found many rings in salt water that look like that. It was probably plated and that is a modern weld. Tony

I would agree with the others, not to old, Ancient rings were cast.

Thanks all for weighing in.

Tamrock, to answer your question I'm not quite sure how to tell if it truly is bronze. It does have a nice deep green patina in daylight, however my photos don't show it overall, but it does show a bit on the microscope images.

I'm more than happy with the purchase regardless of age or origin, just hoping to find out any additional info I can. Thanks again!
