Why did they go public, they should have just brought it all in little by little and then made a claim. doesn't the system over there say that if its not bought by a museum they keep the whole thing?
 

I'm not up on that rule but according to scottish law (im scottish) whatever is found on scottish land is declared treasure trove remember the 3 s' sift shovel shut up. that's the motto for scottish metal detectorists i believe
