Happen to be doing some research on some pretty rare fishing lures and thought back to all the talk about "Ancient Airplanes" Noticed a similarity with the metal wobbler design of Spoonplug fishing lures. 🤣
Those guys probaly walked around with those things around their neck just in case they came upon a fishing opportunity.
🤣
Doubt they had anything to do with UFO's🤣
I just thought it was funny.

I actually saw these in the gold museum in Bogota Colombia.
If you saw it up close, you probably would have second thoughts.
I personally don't believe in Aliens. But these aren't fishing lures, for sure.

If you look at all these items together, it will defiantly make you wonder.
There are several of them on display. So, if you get a chance take a trip to Bogota.
Flights are Cheap.
Check out the museum. It's actually a great country. Nothing like what you see on TV.

My taveling days are over for the most part. Might of been fun in the early 80's though.

Haha....that's exactly what it's like. Everyone running around with suitcases full of money. people shooting at each other...Good Times, Good Times.

I know you are old if you remember that song.... that's got to be early 80's

But seriously, the trip is worth it. The old part of the city is very nice. You would enjoy.

Just wondering why you would think these pieces aren't connected to fishing? From what I have seen the design is excellent for catching fish. It kind of wobbles in the water, and gold is a great color to attract fish. Like I said I have never seen the actual items attributed to the legends. Can anybody tell what their exact size and dimensions are?

If I ever get to Columbia, it ill be for the emeralds not for the fishing tackle.
🤣

I think they are about 1 to 3 inches.
Scientists think they are local birds and insects.
But if you see them up close. It really makes you think.

The museum is amazing though.
Emarald's are good also.

Personally... I do not see a relation to insects or birds with these.
I have always thought these were modeled after fish.
Due to the tail.
Upright tail is a trait of a fish ... and not birds or insects.

But hey... nothing new....
most Archies have been "off" in their opinions of these things.

Yes, Archeologist are often wrong.
I didn't see the bird/insect relationship either.

They are cool though

1"to 3" inches, interesting that is right about the size you would use for a lure.

If you look closely at this you would probably tie your line just under the "Head" , there also seems to be a loop for a "hook" right above the tail. Now what happened to the hook or what type of hook was used is anybodys guess, but this was definitely a fishing lure.
Most likely Trolling Lures thrown off the back of canoes during river travel.

You’re kidding, right? A trolling lure off a hand powered canoe? Made out of one of the heaviest materials know ? And tied to what? Plant fibers? With a hook made of bone, I guess? Or were they making hooks out of gold too?

Those aren’t fishing lures. They might be airplanes. They might be bugs or birds, though they look a lot more like airplanes, IMO. But they’re not fishing lures.

Who knows? not sure, they must of had some type of line or thread. Cotton spun? silk? Wool? some other material, animal sinew, They probably wouldn't of trolled it too far off a canoe or boat, possibly only a few feet? As far as the hook who knows when they were made? could of been when Bronze was known or used? Maybe they used some type of Bone for a hook?
doesn't look like any of them are dated?🤣 Probably diferent Lures from different eras? Some of them might be little creature carvings, carved from gold just as a way to pass the time. But I would say a lot of those things are Lures.

Sure would be a fun experiment too recreate some of the designs and take them out for field testing my theory.

The Theory is better than Ancient Aliens!😁

Look at the depth and width of that gap behind that head. They were definitely using sinew as fishing line.

Now I do have to admit, I don't think they are insects or birds.
So what are they? Alien Aircraft. I doubt.

So, you classify them as fishing lures is just as good if not better than other explanations offered. Occam's razor : The simplest answer is usually the correct one.

They are Fishing Lures.:notworthy:

These are along the same lines as the "helicopter" hieroglyphs of Abydos Egypt. The mind can imagine. Interesting.

They were using sinew as fishing line, but then tied on that expensive, factory made "lure"? Nope, nope, nope, nope...

Suggestion: Upload the image to Google Images and have it search. There's dozens of sites about that image, and not a one said fishing lure, but it did seem to be rather important in relation to ancient aliens visiting Earth.
