Well, today, after over a year of fighting, I got my first retroactive check for disability. The amount is still wrong, and they still had me as single without dependents, but I finally will be able to pay bills on Monday.

Now, the bad news.

My back has gotten worse, to the point I can not detect right now. Also, in the past few weeks, I have had seizures of unexplained origins...which means I am not allowed to drive, and have to have someone with me at all times. My neuro doc in OKC has set me up with several appointments (hooray, 160 mile round trip drives, three times next week) to check on the problem.

My wife has begun getting calls to teach, but most of them have not been feasible for us. What may end up happening is I spend the next few months every day with my brother in law who was just in a serious motorcycle accident. He can keep an eye on me in case I start seizing, and I can make sure he does not injure himself further, change his dressings, make sure he takes his meds.....

But I am still around, and generally, things could be worse. Went shopping today and got enough food for about six months, and me and my wife and kid are going fishing tomorrow. Even if it is going to be over a hundred degrees by ten am, it will be fun.

I know I do not post much anymore, but I have just been beating the bushes and trying to get others interested in the hobby.

Don't give up friend. You just have to keep jumping through the hoops with the VA.

Yeah, I know. I have some good people working for me, but still, it is hard.....Not to mention since I am one of the few people who got injured on this deployment, some of the people in my unit are treating me like I am faking....

I just feel like those that were weasels and got out of the deployment have no right to act like that.

My father has about 2000 cold war flight hours in VP squadrons and is retired from the Navy and the VA will not give him hearing aids . Years of aircraft noise = bad hearing .

I get nothing for my hearing loss either. My first MOS was 13B. Field Artillery. Go figure.
