Back at the silver farm today, I got an unexpected treat. After digging eight wheats, including three in one hole, I thought silver would be a possibility. I was thinking in terms of Rosey, Merc or Washington when I got a nice quarter signal. I gave the target a wide berth, not wanting to scratch, and was pleased to see the rim and side of a quarter. At a glance, I could see it was a Barber; after a quick bath in the creek (for him, not me), I saw the 1912. There is no mintmark. Of the wheats, a 1920 was the oldest; the rest were commons from the 40's and 50's. Also found this keyhole piece; I'm sure there is a proper name for it but I'm not privy to it. I found part of a ring with a large stone and two smaller ones; given the quality of the ring, I'll guess the stone is worthless.
