Hi guys. Thought id share this after I came across the photos the other day. This guy, passed away roughly 15 yrs ago, was a great friend of my family and my late fathers best friend. In the 1920s 1930s he and his father and brother worked a rich reef claim on the Welshmans Reef line in Victoria between Newstead and Maldon.
He used to love me showing him nuggets when I found them, had gold in his veins im sure.
They got quite a lot out of the claim over the years, hundreds and hundreds of ounces, but as he said those were hard times and gold wasn't worth much then and they just made wages overall.
Great guy.
Bill Pitts.
Him about 12 months before he passed away.
One of the ingots from gold in their reef.
Bills wife at the time holding one. I never met her, she died young unfortunately.
