Started off last week at a old farm house that I've been detecting for a couple months. I found a 1917 Buffalo Nickel, 1930 Wheat and a Weather Bird shoe company kids ring.
On Friday I went back to the spot on the river where I found a gold ring the previous week only this time I got permission to park nearby and walk in, saving me the 3.5 mile Kayak trip. I didn't find more gold but did make some interesting discoveries. Last time I found some interesting unidentifiable copper and lead disks. This time I found more copper disks of different sizes along with copper washers, some wheat penny's that have been filed down and some tokens that match the size of the washers. I also found a wheat penny that is pressed into a metal disk that is the same size as the disks I found on my previous trip, all of which are the same size as a quarter. So I think what I have discovered is someones token/coin counterfeiting attempts. How they ended up in the river who knows. I also found a lead figure, some unfired rifle cartridges a fork and some other interesting items.
Yesterday, I stopped at a property with an old house and mill. I asked permission from the owner and she said yes, but she didn't know if I would find anything since the property had been detected before. As anyone that has been detecting for any length of time knows it's hard to find everything, so I took up the challenge and it paid off with a nice 1893 Indian and a pretty toasted 1809 Half Cent (my second this year). This was just an initial search of a 6 acre site, so I'm hopeful it will produce even more.
