an old hook?

Is this an old cast iron hook? The part in the middle seems lead.

Was found at the beach.

Looks like the catch for some type of small winch such as a "come-along" or boat winch.

Agreed. It looks like it was on the end of a shaft, and the "hook" part probably clicked over a gear wheel..like an anti-reverse.
